We want to share with you a little bit about one of our fantastic retailers My Pharmacy Papamoa. We asked Ben the owner a few questions to learn more about him.

Q. How long have you been working at My Pharmacy Papamoa Plaza?
A. Since October 2006, wow that’s nearly 13 years! Suddenly feeling a bit older haha.
Q. What do you enjoy most about your job?
A. Our customers! Closely followed by working with a great bunch of people in the pharmacy and also at other stores at Papamoa Plaza. Everyone is so friendly and willing to help. I love our customers and the variety of what we help them with. From minor skateboard or beach injuries to the more complex medicine management cases where we help patients understand their medicines, often means they can stay at home with their families and enjoy our wonderful community and environment (and avoid places like the hospital!).
Q. What is great about having My Pharmacy Papamoa Plaza located at Papamoa Plaza?
A. Being part of the hub of the community, everyone knows we are here to help every day and having that regular contact with our customers really builds relationships. We know our customers, we see them all the time whether it is for their medicines or a lotto ticket, its something we really enjoy.
Q. What’s your favourite thing to do in the region when you're not working?
A. I love golf, so that is where I escape to when I can, but also enjoying everything the bay of plenty has to offer. With my family, walks and riding our bikes are fantastic fun and my wife and kids are right into dancing and stage as well so I really enjoy supporting local dance shows and productions. So many talented performers out there putting on great productions.
Q. What is your favourite place to shop or eat at Papamoa Plaza (apart from your own of course)?
A. Well, both coffee shops know my coffee order off by heart so it’s a tie between Robert Harris Papamoa and Double Teaspoons.
We asked Ben the owner of My Pharmacy Papamoa a few questions about his store:
Q. What're your most popular products at the moment?
A. Flu Vaccines are taking off right now, so come on in and get yours! Also its Buccaline time, everyone is getting ready for the winter season so keeping your immune system ready for the colder months ahead.
Q. What makes My Pharmacy Papamoa Plaza different from other pharmacies?
A. We are an independent pharmacy, we don’t answer to any corporate boards or shareholders, also our team is very stable and locals! You can see the same pharmacists or other staff who know you, your family and what is going on in and around the community.
Q. How has your business changed over the years as society has become more aware of their health?
A. We have embraced wellness as a core principle in our patient management, we want people to be fit and healthy and feeling great about themselves. Prevention is better than cure so we really try to make sure we provide the best health advice, and when needed the products, to keep our customers out and about to enjoy everything Papamoa has to offer.
Q. What do you offer that people might not know about?
A. Passport photos! We can pretty much do any photo for any passport or visa. Our passport service provides both digital photos for online applications and also hardcopy photos for manually submitted applications.
Q. What would a typical My Pharmacy Papamoa Plaza customer purchase from you?
A. The great thing about our pharmacy is there is no such thing as a typical customer! We see so many different people each day with different needs, whether it is someone with a sick child needing advice on paracetamol dosing (really important to get that right) to the customer who has an important function that evening and cannot find the right lipstick/eyeshadow combo we have the product range and the staff with trained expertise to make sure you get it right.

I've always been a fan of My Pharmacy at Papamoa Plaza and have always had great service there but Ben took that service to the next level when we had a sick child and missed the closing time on a Sunday night to pick up a prescription - he personally dropped the medicine round not only relieving our child's misery but also making anxious parents sleep easier that night!! Can't say thank you enough for going above and beyond in customer service - amazing!!
Lovely staff, awesome range of supplements (lots of ones I’ve previously only found online) and great advice about what would fit my needs best
Having lived here for 15 years I'm yet to have ever gone instore and not been greeted without wonderful friendly service, whatever the need, service, nothing is an issue, they will source product for you and what's even better give great knowledgeable advice. Remember too they have a wonderful loyalty card/program once you register, my wife Debbie esp loves the bonuses to spend when you qualify. Keep up the great community service team.
The staff are always friendly and helpful. Last week I was in the Vitamin section and I couldn't remember the brand I usually purchase, but it wasn't a problem because the lady just looked my name up in the computer and could tell me exactly what I had purchased in the past.
